Tym razem pojawiło się potwierdzenie przygotowywania Androida Oreo dla czterech następujących modeli: Honor 8 Pro, Honor 7X, Honor 8 Lite oraz Honor 9i, czyli bliźniaka Huawei Mate 10 Lite, co stanowi bardzo dobrą wiadomość. W tej szczęśliwej grupce powinienem się również znaleźć obecny flagowiec, Honor 9. Update wniesie sporo nowości. Nie będą one wynikać wyłącznie z nowego systemu, ale również jeszcze bardziej funkcjonalnej nakładki EMUI 8, choć przeskok będzie mniejszy niż mogłaby wskazywać nazwa ( -> Czegoś tu brakuje Najbardziej niepokojący okazał się brak jednego konkretnego modelu na tej liście. Mianowicie topowego urządzenia z 2016 roku, Honor 8, który zaskakująco nie został nigdzie wspomniany. Zresztą nawet oficjalny oddział Honor w Indiach przyznał, że nie pojawi się na niego żadna większa aktualizacja. Podobno wynika to z trudności technicznych z dostosowaniem systemu pod kątem starszego urządzenia. Czy brzmi to wiarygodnie? Owszem, zdarzają się czasem poważne ograniczenia, jednak w tym przypadku na to nie wygląda. Jeszcze w zeszłym roku dowiedzieliśmy się dokładnie, jakie modele są testowane pod kątem Oreo i wśród nich mogliśmy zobaczyć właśnie Honora 8 czy 6X. Nagła zmiana decyzji wydaje się być tu sporym zawodem. Znakomity telefon, który nadal stanowi łakomy kąsek, zyskał poważną wadę, aczkolwiek nie da się ukryć, że jego rywale z 2016 roku wcale nie wypadają tu lepiej. Jednak w ich przypadku żyjemy jeszcze nadzieją, a tu potwierdza się najgorszy możliwy scenariusz. Prośby pomogą? Na razie możemy jeszcze poczekać do potwierdzenia lub zanegowania tych wiadomości. Jeżeli to wszystko okaże się prawdą, wówczas Honor powinien spodziewać się licznych pism od użytkowników, którzy z pewnością będą niezadowoleni z takiego obrotu spraw. Android Oreo on Honor 8 (AOSP It’s already been more than one year since the Honor 8 was released and many of the users waiting for the official Android Oreo P8 Lite was released in 2016, July at a budget-friendly price. If you’ve been following, you must’ve heard that some Chinese variants of the Honor 8 Pro, Honor V9, have started receiving the Android Oreo update. This is an official update from Huawei although it is still in the testing stages. Which is why only users whose devices are enrolled in Huawei’s beta program have been receiving the update. But we do have the EMUI firmware for DUK-AL20 so that means you can install it on your device without enrolling in any program. To install the update you must have the Honor V9 (DUK-AL20) and not the international variant, Honor 8 Pro. The update based on Android Oreo runs EMUI on top of stock Android and there are not a lot of EMUI centric changes. You can read a lot more about the new features and about the whole update in general here. You can also download the firmware from the link at the bottom of that post. But we’ll also have the links below in the downloads section on this page. If you want to take a look at the official changelog here it is. Firmware Info Device – Honor V9 Model – DUK-AL20 Android Version – EMUI Version – Firmware – B315 Build Number – DUK-AL20 (C00) Region – China Status – Official Type – Full firmware image Downloads Warning The firmware download and the installation process described below is specifically for DUK-AL20 that is the Honor V9. Do not try to install it on an Honor 8 Pro or any other device. Although the firmware is officially from Huawei, it is a beta software and there are bound to be bugs. We cannot guarantee whether your device’s warranty will remain intact if you choose to follow the guide below. Follow this at your own risk. DroidViews cannot be held responsible if you end up harming your phone in any way. Requirements You’ll need to have unlocked the bootloader on your Honor V9. The device must also have TWRP custom recovery installed. Ensure that your device has at the very least 50% of battery left so as to prevent an accidental shutdown. Installing a new firmware on your device can be a bit risky. Even though this is simply an update and shouldn’t clear your data, one can never be a 100% sure. If things go south you may lose important data. As such, it is advisable to back up all your important data beforehand. Your Honor V9 must already be running on the stock firmware from Huawei. Download all the three zip files from the Downloads section above and transfer the files to your Honor V9’s internal storage. Power off your device now. Once it has shut down, press and hold the Volume Up button and then power on the device whilst holding Volume Up. Keep both the Volume Up and Power keys pressed until you see the Huawei logo. At this point, you can let go of both the buttons, but just to be sure, only let go of the Power button. Keep holding the Volume Up button until your device boots into TWRP recovery. In the TWRP recovery, you can select Backup and take a NANDroid backup of your current stock firmware along with all the apps and data. It’s optional and will take quite a while but better safe than sorry. When you’re ready, select Install in the TWRP main menu and then navigate to the file named Select it and swipe at the bottom to flash it. Similarly, install and files in that order. Teoretycznie powinny być już dostępne na większości urządzeń, ponieważ stanowią część styczniowej poprawki bezpieczeństwa, ale w praktyce niewielki procent wszystkich telefonów da się uznać za bezpieczne. Zanim się takie staną, minie jeszcze wiele tygodniu, szczególnie że niektórzy wstrzymują się z jej wydaniem do udostępnienia własnej aktualizacji do Androida Oreo. Poprawa za rogiem? Huawei aspiruje do miana producenta klasy premium. Tworzy już świetne urządzenia flagowe, ceni je adekwatnie do tego, ale wciąż użytkownicy mogą czuć się niepewnie względem aktualizacji. U Apple sytuacja jest klarowna. Masz iPhone, masz najnowszego iOS od razu po jego premierze. Przynajmniej przez pierwsze cztery lata, jednak patrząc na to, jak to wygląda w ekosystemie Google, otrzymujemy więc utopijny obraz. Nawet Samsung nie wypada w tym temacie wybitnie. Owszem, poprawił się i stara się w miarę możliwości udostępniać nowe odsłony systemu, ale w żółwim tempie. Tu pojawia się szansa dla Chińczyków. Although Honor’s chief executive had recently confirmed that the Honor 8 will receive the Android Oreo update in the coming weeks, you no longer need to wait around for the Chinese giant to push the official update. OpenKirin, a well-known team of developers, has just released an AOSP Oreo build to bring the latest flavor of Android to the Honor 8. As suggested by several early adopters of the ROM, it is quite stable and won’t trouble you much even if the Honor 8 is your daily driver. However, it is necessary for you to know that the ROM is still under development and does come with a bunch of bugs in tow. You might face minor problems with GPS, cameras, signal strength, and VoLTE support. Here’s how you can install the ROM on your device right away: Installing The Custom ROM on Your Honor 8 Note: This ROM is based on AOSP (Android Open Source Project) and you will require Honor’s EMUI firmware to flash this custom ROM on your device. 1. Head over to this link and download the AOSP ROM from XDA Developer’s forum. 2. Do remember to install TWRP recovery beforehand, so you can wipe all your data and remove encryption before moving forward with flashing the ROM. 3. Flash the .zip ROM file you’ve downloaded from the aforementioned link and reboot your Honor 8. It is optional to install all of the Google applications but you can head over to OpenGapps if you plan on using them.
